Nepal is one of the richest countries in the world in the terms of biodiversity due to its unique geographical position and latitude variation. The elevation of country ranges from 60m above sea level to the highest point on the Earth i.e. Mt. Everest at 8848, all within a distance of150m km resulting climatic condition from sub tropical to Arctic.

Nepal covers 0.1% of the total landmass on Earth. Nepal is habitat for:

  • 8% of world’s population birds around (848 species)
  • 4% of mammals
  • Butterflies 500 species
  • 600 natural plant families
  • 319 species of orchids.

Entry Procedures

What are needed toget a Visa?

One passport size photo with white background and a passport(valid) is required. Visa can be obtained after payment. Payment can be done with following currencies only: U.S. Dollar, European Euro, UK Pound Sterling,Swiss Franc, Australian Dollar, Canadian Dollar, Singapore Dollar, Japanese Yen, Chinese Yuan, Qatari Riyal, Thai Baht, UAE Dirham, Malaysian Ringgit,South Korean Won, Swedish Kroner, Danish Kroner, Hong Kong Dollar, Kuwaiti Dinar and Bahrain Dinar.

International Credit Card is also accepted for payment of Visa Fee.

1.      Tourist Visa

2.      Gratis (free) Visa

  • Children below 10 years
  • For first Visa in one year (January to December), gratis visa for 30 days is available only for nationals of South Asian countries. Visa can be extended from the Immigration Department after paying fee of visa payment as specified above.
  • Indian nationals do not require visa to enter into Nepal.
  • Chinese tourist are provided gratis visa for Nepal.

However, nationals of the following countries will not get visa on the arrival at the immigration entry points of Nepal: – Nigeria, Ghana, Swaziland, Cameroon, Somalia, Liberia, Ethiopia, Iraq, and Palestine, Afghanistan. They need to obtain visa through Diplomatic Missions or Nepalese Embassies giving priority to visit Nepal intheir respective countries.

For Indian Nationals:

As per the Nepalese Immigration, Indian Nationals Traveling to Nepal must possess Voter Identity card issued by Election Commission or MRP passport. However please check with your nearest travel agents for documents required by the Indian Immigration for Industrializing to Nepal.

By Land

All visitors coming to Nepal by land can enter through anyentry points on the India- Nepal Border i.e. Pani Tanki/ Kakarbhitta,Raxual/Birgunj, Sunauli Belahiya, Rupaidiya/Nepalgunj, Mohana/Dhangadi,Banbasa/Mahendranagar, Gaddachauki and Khasa, Liping  /tatopani on the Tibet, China-Nepal borderrespectively. Tourist entering the country with their vehicles by land must processan International carnet and customs formalities completely.
